StoreBoard Media LLC Granted U.S. Patent for StoreBoard® Security Pedestal Advertising Panels
NEW YORK, July 14, 2011 — StoreBoard Media LLC, operators of America’s largest in-store billboard network, announced today that it has been granted U.S. Patent # 7,941,950 for the company’s StoreBoard® advertising panels that fit over entranceway security pedestals at retail stores.
StoreBoard Media LLC places brand awareness-building billboards on the security pedestals that are at the entrance to chain stores nationwide, including CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, USA Drug, Kerr Drug and others, as well as Kmart stores across the country. StoreBoard’s indoor billboards are generating 1.2 billion gross impressions every four weeks. The advertising panels occupy approximately 60 square feet within each store, reaching 100% of shoppers.
“We are pleased that the U.S. Patent Office has recognized the uniqueness of our StoreBoard® panel design,” said Rick Sirvaitis, president, StoreBoard Media LLC. “But, of course, our innovation goes far beyond design by delivering new point-of-decision media opportunities for brand marketers and incremental revenue for retailers. That’s our real breakthrough.”
The patented StoreBoard® advertising panels were created for StoreBoard Media LLC by its former CEO, Douglas Leeds, who passed away in June.
“The granting of the patent is testament to Doug’s innovative, creative mind and a fitting tribute to his long and influential career,” Sirvaitis said.
Recently, StoreBoard Media introduced an enhancement to its StoreBoard® panels. Called CategoryCircle™, the latest innovation consists of an eye-catching red circle placed on StoreBoard’s entranceway billboards that reads “Find in Aisle …,” directing shoppers to the specific aisle in which the advertised product can be found in that store.
The popularity of the StoreBoard® concept has resulted in rapid growth for StoreBoard Media. In 2010 Inc. magazine named StoreBoard Media one of America’s fastest-growing private companies for the second consecutive year. StoreBoard Media’s placement on the Inc. 500 list was based on three-year revenue growth (2006-2009) of 1,229%.

StoreBoard panels are a powerful mass medium that is “aisles away, not miles away” from point-of-decision. Positioned as a media buy, StoreBoard panels do not compete with other in-store media options for merchandising/trade dollars, creating an opportunity for retailers to capitalize on the branding value of their stores. Brands and companies that have advertised to date with StoreBoard Media include Cadbury, Coca Cola, Nestle, Kraft, Unilever, CBS Television, Wyeth, L’Oreal, Alberto Culver, Hershey’s, American Greetings, Schick and others.
